TURNING POINT

Turning Point is designed to provide vocational and independent living skills for older adolescents enabling them to become self-sufficient adults and decrease their dependency on social services. Older adolescents can make a turn in their lives toward success.

Facts

Turning Point, a transitional living program, provides a residential and vocational training program for older adolescents ages 17 to 21.
The program provides vocational training skills and support services to assist homeless and at-risk youth in making a smooth transition to self-sufficiency.
Referrals to Turning Point come through the Department of Family & Children Services and the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Why We Are Here

Over at Turning Point, a young woman is moving after almost a year in the program. Like the other Turning Point clients, she would have been homeless had The Center not taken her in. She held a part-time restaurant job while working on her high school diploma. After having the opportunity to choose among several local colleges, she is moving into an apartment and beginning her first college classes. She’s received three scholarships that are making all of this possible
